Due to various reasons — global, technical and personal — Paper Swans has been ‘hiding in our nest’ for the past couple of years — still afloat, but not really flexing our wings.
We are thrilled to be back.
In 2024, we celebrated 10 years as an independent press and took some time to reflect over all the various projects, events and books we have enjoyed. A lot has changed for independent presses in these 10 years, in a positive way (we think), and we have been making some decisions about our path forward.

Our ethos has also been to publish interesting, talented up-and-coming poets, as well as established poets and it has been wonderful to see many of our early Paper Swans contributors achieve great things in the poetry world.
We have also always fostered a love of flash fiction, which we hope to embrace a little more fully in the coming year.
As well as our physical publications, we plan to go ‘back to our roots’ and publish more work online and in different formats, such as the poetry postcards we launched at the Edinburgh Book Festival, way back in 2015.
This year, our VERY patient 2023 Pamphlet Prize winner, Pam Thompson, will have her book, Sub/urban Legends published, which was chosen in our annual competition by John McCullough (the competition did not run in 2024).

We are also re-opening our online shop after our website crashed and disappeared. This was a terrible blow, as we also lost all of our content and records of past endeavours. However, we are now back and looking forward to a positive journey ahead.
